How We Compare Travel Insurance

This page explains why our comparison starts with eligibility, wording, route details, and purchase timing before price or branding.

Why this methodology exists

We do not treat travel insurance like a single yes-or-no product. The right plan changes with residence, destination, trip timing, duration, and whether evacuation or post-departure rules could decide the outcome.

That is why the first filter is eligibility, not price. A plan can look attractive on the quote screen and still fail on residency, destination exclusions, trip duration, or timing of purchase.

This methodology page exists to make that shortlist explainable. It should be clear why a provider appears, why another one drops out, and which policy terms deserve attention before any quote click.

Once the shortlist is actually eligible, we compare medical wording, evacuation language, interruption logic, and administrative fit. Only after that does price become decision-useful.
